It distinguishes between what is said/claimed by characters, from what is actually shown. Whenever possible, it uses spellings from the closed captioning (which may not be entirely consistent, or match those on the official website). Corrections to typos, phrasing, etc. are welcome, but please, only if you include a specific citation -- the idea is to avoid *half-remembered* lines and *unrealized inferences*. The NOTES are listed in seen-on-screen order, and ANALYSIS summarizes topics. Abbreviations used: mel=male, fem=female, (m/f/?) name belongs to mel/fem/unclear, (os) on viewer screen, (?) quote is uncertain, (sp?) spelling is unclear, (vo) voiceover. I. TERMS TRICKY Sajen = "say-jenn". TECHNOLOGY [...] CULTURE [...] CHARACTERS Major Klev, Colonel Grat, Sajen, Narra, Danik. MENTIONS Silik. III. NOTES TEASER * Mayweather awakes on a pallet on the floor of a dingy room, with barred windows at the ceiling; Archer is passed out on a second pallet. He finds the door unlocked, opens it cautiously. He hears footsteps -- and sees two SULIBAN. ACT I * Mayweather sneaks through the corridors. Behind a barred screen, he sees a common room full of Suliban: men, women, children. * In the cell, Mayweather reports to a groggy Archer that he saw over 30. They'd been in a shuttle investingating energy readings from "the other side of that moon", readings that could've been from "a Helix"; they were attacked, but Mayweather hadn't seen by what. Archer boosts him up to a window: he sees a 5-m-tall wall, and something that might be a guard tower. * In the corridor, they meet a female Suliban. "You're the new arrivals," she says dourly. "Why are we here?" Archer asks. "Why are any of us here?" she responds. A red light flashes on the ceiling, a klaxon sounds. Other Suliban come out of their cells, line up along the corridor. Guards arrive -- MAJOR KLEV plus three guards. A Suliban drops a metal cup, and Klev zaps him with an electric cattleprod-like wand. * Archer and Mayweather are brought by Klev to the office of COLONEL GRAT, commander of the "detention complex". He announces that he's examined the "database" in their "shuttlecraft", so he knows they're from a ship named "Enterprise" and a planet named "Earth". He asks why they'd trespassed into their "military zone" (the second moon); Archer explains. They're now several lightyears from there. Grat explains that the Tandarians are at war with "the Cabal": they're naturally suspicious of anyone, since their "genetic enhancements" can allow them to "mimic almost any lifeform"; but their DNA has been tested. Grat can't release them, but a "transport" arrives in three days; they'll be taken to "Tandar Prime" for a hearing by a "magistrate". * FX #1: night, camp, right. * In the cell, the two huddle under blankets while eating the unpleasant yellow gruel. Archer picks up the small bucket to get more water. * In the common room, Archer meets a male Suliban (DANIK) and his daughter (NARRA) doing laundry. His questions delay Danik past the curfew klaxon. Klev arrives, and because it's his second offense this week, he's taken to "isolation". ACT II * FX #2: Ent in space. * Bridge. * Screen FX. * T'pol, Tucker, Reed, Sato, helmsman (male cauc brun, yellow 1-pip), 2 others. T'pol speaks to Grat(os), who explains about the "Central Magistrate's Office". Sato can't trace his signal: "he must've scrambled the carrier wave". T'pol offers to contact the VHC, who might send a magistrate. Tucker derisively snorts that the electric chair would be preferable. T'pol doesn't recognize the reference. * FX #3: Ent goes to warp. * FX #4: day, camp, left. * In the common room, kids paint a mural. Danik and two other adults play a game. The others leave when Archer comes to talk. * Later: Archer and Mayweather get a history from Danik. The Cabal began its attacks about 8 years earlier; the "Tandarans" immediately suspected all Suliban living in their territory. Soon, they were rounded up. There are 89 in this, "Detention Complex 26", and thousands among others spread across the worlds of the "Tandar Sector". He was born in the same town as Klev, and played with Klev's brother. The Suliban homeworld became uninhabitable 300 years earlier; most Suliban are now nomadic; Danik's grandfather settled on Tandara Prime. Suliban SAJEN enters with a letter: the request of Danik's wife to be transferred from her camp, has again been rejected. Klaxon: midday inspection. * Klev pulls Archer aside. * In Grat's office, the colonel consults his padd, and starts trolling for intel. He asks about Oklahoma, Broken Bow, the 2 Suliban soldiers who crashed there in pursuit of a Klingon. From the intelligence service, he knows that Ent returned the Klingon to "his homeworld", detoured to "Rigel Ten", and met rebel leader "Sarin". Several of "our people" saw Archer there. "Silik" infiltrated Ent "about 3 months ago", disguised as a "Borothan pilgrim". "Temporal cold war". Grat asserts that the Suliban are better off in the camp. In the early days of the war, 14 innocents were killed in one day. If Archer's not cooperative, the next transport is in 60 days. ACT III * Bridge. * Screen FX. * T'pol, Reed, Tucker, Sato, helsman, (os)Grat. Grat reports that the hearing has been postponed. Reed isolates the "carrier wave" this time, and forwards it to Sato. It's at 178-mark-12, 5.2-Ly. * In the corridor, Archer continues to speak to Danik. He'd been director of research at an engineering institute in "Querella Province". He explains there are ships impounded in the "docking bay" 100-m away. * In the common room, Mayweather finds Sajen writing a journal. * FX #1: night, camp, right. * Cell. * Bridge. * Archer studies map. A communicator is beamed in. (vo)T'pol. * Sato explains that she's "triaxillating the signal": if Archer were in Starfleet HQ, it couldn't be detected. T'pol mentions the Suliban detected; Archer explains. Reed and Tucker are getting "transporter lock", but Archer orders a delay. T'pol's not familiar with his reference to "Manzanar", the WWII internment camp of Japanese-Americans. * Common room. "Particle weapons" -JA. Danik suggests that, once out of Tandaran space, they could flee to the "Niburon colonies". * FX #4: day, camp, left. * Grat's office. Unusual energy readings had been detected in their "quarters". Mayweather is hustled in, roughed-up, and the communicator displayed. Archer taken to isolation. * FX #5: Ent. * Situation room. * Sickbay. * Situation room. * Bridge. * Tucker, T'pol. Phlox. Sato gets a signal from the communicator -- it's Grat. ACT IV * Common room. * FX #6: Ent approaches the planet. * Bridge. * Screen FX. * T'pol cheerfully invites Grat to dinner. She transmits a copy of Ent's db, the Starfleet charter, a record of their encounters with "alien species", and the Vulcan db too. Grat cuts off when he realizes they're jamming the frequencies. * Transporter room. * Bridge. * Cell. Mayweather, gruel. Knock, Suliban. It's Reed. "How'd you get here?" "Transporter. I think I'm finally getting used to it." * FX #7: day, camp, ground level. * Cell. Danik, Mayweather, Reed. * Common room. * FX #8: Ent enters orbit. * Bridge. * FX #9: Ent attacked by two Tandaran "patrol ships". * Bridge. T'pol orders "aft torpedoes". * FX #10: Ent plows through clouds. * Bridge. * Launchbay: Tucker in Pod 2. * FX #11: pod launches, from above. * Cell. Klev barges in, zaps Reed. * Corridor. Klev and 2 guards. Mayweather infuriates Klev by insulting the gruel. They turn to go, Reed gestures the lined-up Suliban out of the way, they notice the three "charges" stuck to the wall, Reed triggers them. BOOM! They're thrown aside. * Pod, Tucker. * Corridor. * FX #12: pod strafes into camp. * FX #13: pod zaps guard tower. It collapses. * Common room. Tandaran handguns fire green beams. * Isolation. Reed rescues Archer; Archer can recognize him. They step out, but Reed is pistol-clubbed by Grat. * FX #14: pod strafes across camp. * Corridor. Mayweather covers the guards as he gestures the prisoners out the hole. Danik's daughter tells them he's still back there; Mayweather's ready to go, but Sejan volunteers, takes the phase-pistol. * Isolation. Reed tackles Grat. They lock him in. * FX #15: 3 alien ships (actually 4) plus pod launch from "docking bay". * Pod. * Bridge. * Pod. * Archer at controls. T'pol reports that the patrol ships won't be a problem, and that the Suliban vessels are leaving orbit. Reed's skin is really starting to itch. * FX #16: pod plows through clouds. V. CONNECTIONS 1.
