NOTES TEASER * Archer(vo): "Last time on Enterprise ... and now, the conclusion." * Silik: "drop out of warp" * Reed orders teams to Docking Ports One, Two and Three. * Tucker: "warp core" * Docking tube extends from port rim of saucer. * No change in opening title sequence. ACT 1 * Daniels: "You're thinking of time travel like you're in some H.G.Wells novel. You're not. It's far more complicated." * Daniels admits that, with 31cen civilization destroyed, neither of them should be there. * "time-line" * The monument to the Federation was never built. * To Daniels' surprise, the library is full of "paper" volumes, not "electronics". * Silik: "temporal signature" in the turbolift. A Suliban soldier hands over a device hidden in the lift, resembling a four-inch "dome light". It's reddish in color, not like the blue-grey of Daniels' other devices. * At Starfleet HQ, Amb.Soval (with two aides) confronts Adm.Forrest. * The Vulcan ship "_D'kyr_" is waiting; _Enterprise_ is three days overdue. * Soval: "the death of 3000 colonists" (he approximates). ACT 2 * Ent docked to a Helix in a "nebula". * Frantic, Silik is getting no answer from his temporal superior. * Checking volumes, Daniels' realizes nothing went right after the "Warp Five program". * Archer notices a volume labeled "Romulan Star Empire". "Maybe you shouldn't be reading that," says Daniels, pushing it back. * "timeline" * "data disks" * Daniels realizes the Suliban were after Archer, not the data disks. By taking him out of time, Daniels did exactly what they needed. * "communicator" (in pocket of right upper sleeve) * "scanner" (at left waist, hip?) * The Suliban are communicating with people from "300 years" prior to 31cen, who can only send images. * Using Archer's communicator and scanner, Daniels can construct a device to send a signal through time. (His people construct such things in school.) * Silik interrogates T'pol. * She has a metal color clamped to her neck, with fluid-bubbling hoses. * "The Vulcan Science Directorate has determined that time travel is impossible." * Daniels salvages a white, tricorder-shaped device, and has Archer pound an unrecognizable copper artifact into strips no more than 1-mm thick. * Tucker contacts Reed via the "door coms". * To clear the signal, Reed suggests, "try modulating the sub-carrier wave." * Routed through the "EPS grid". * "I can talk to any doorbell on B-deck." * Has to figure a way to reach Sato and Mayweather on C-deck. * The transtime signal will be tough without a "quantum discriminator". * Daniels claims: it's a device on every school desk. * T'pol is returned to her quarters. * She has no scars in her neck. * Her navel is an "outie". (Do Vulcans have a human-like umbilicus? Unknown.) * She stumbles into the head, which has a perfectly ordinary spigot and basin. * A yellow-tinged hologram-like image of Archer's face appears in midair, with a staticky voice. * She's so shaken that she probably thinks his voice is an auditory hallucination. * "Helix" (capitalized common noun). * "Science Vulcan Directorate," she mumbles, "has determined that time travel is -- not fair." * "You're on the ceiling. Why aren't you on a monitor?" ACT 3 * The five officers plot. * Mayweather suggests the crawlspaces around the EPS conduits, but Reed points out they were mostly blocked off when construction was completed; only a small person could fit. * Sato is claustrophobic. * Mention of another small crewmember, "Crewman Naiman(f)". * She reaches Phlox's quarters, and he hands up two hypos. * She squeezes out of a ceiling vent, and loses her shirt. * She arrives at Reed's quarters topless. * Reed unlocks Daniels' quarters, and retrieves a device. * The device is an inch-thick tablet the size of a large book, with a circular extrusion at the upper right corner. * It's hidden inside the closet door, in something like a dimensional pocket. * He's captured, and the device taken. * Tucker and T'pol retake Engineering. * Suliban are vulnerable to the Vulcan neck pinch. * Silik places Daniels' device on his command dais, and tries to operate it. * Suliban: "the antimatter stream has been compromised". * Suliban: "warp reactor" * A cascade of sparks and small explosions from the warp core. * Four larger Suliban ships tow Ent away from the Helix. * They have yellow tractor beams. * Blue sparks trace over the nacelles. * Small orange fireballs puff from the blue mid-lights. * Blue smoke trails. * Huge orange fireballs erupt. * The blue trails ignite. * The tractor ships peel off. * The blue mid-lights flicker back to full. (They're sliced vertically, as though one is associated with each warp coil.) * Ent pulls away. * Fake "warp core breach" "pyrotechnics". * Sato: "Cell-ships" * Sato: "high warp" * Silik begs the flickering image for instructions. * "You're an ugly bastard," says Archer, then dives out of the beam and clobbers him. * "You try shape-shifting on me [...] I promise you, Silik, I'll blow your head off." ACT 4 * Archer demands Silik call back the "Cell-ships", and return that data disks. * Leaving, he vaporizes the tablet-device with Silik's handgun. * Ent has "hull plating" in the "port-aft quarter", "port", and "ventral". * Sato can read sensors from her station. * Ventral phase-cannon. * Red-orange (salmon?) beams. * There are ventral cannon(s) that can fire both for and aft. * There are two dorsal cannon, housed in the pontoon-bulges to either side of the saucer's central rectangular deck. * The Suliban blast the two dorsal cannon. * Suliban beams are yellow. * Archer: "It's not Starfleet procedure, but I took a hostage. By the time he wakes up, we'll be long gone." * The Ent crew screen-conferences with Soval and Starfleet. * Two Vulcan officers (in metal-colored jumpsuits and jackets, one silver, one bronze) stand on the Ent bridge. * Soval and two Vulcan staff (grey-haired female, younger male). * Adm.Forrest, two other admirals, yellow-stripe officer. * Soval: "In less than a single Earth year you've engaged in armed conflicts with over a dozen species," escalated the Vulcan-Andorian conflict, destroyed "one of our most sacred monasteries", and freed 89 Suliban. Soval plans to advise the Vulcan High Command not to change its recommendation to Starfleet, that Ent be recalled. * Archer cites a visit in his early 20s to East Africa, where he saw the birth of a gazelle. * T'pol: "Our ancestors discovered how to suppress their emotions only after centuries of savage conflict." * That night, Archer rings for entry to T'pol's quarters. * Refer to "Crewman Fuller(f)". * He's in his pajamas; Adm.Forrest woke him up. * T'pol's in her pajamas: mint-green, short-sleeved, long-legged. * He credits her argument with putting them "over the top". * Archer turns to the hatch to leave. "I still don't believe in time travel," she tells him. "The hell you don't," he answers cheerily. V. CONNECTIONS VI. ANALYSIS 1. Daniels' vague comments indicate that time travel is sufficiently complicated to excuse any sins by the writers. 2. Amazingly, Amb.Soval approximates a number: he says "3000 colonists" instead of 3600 (a number later used by Tucker). 3. Presumably Daniels' tablet-device was a one-ended temporal transporter. 4. Did Archer's plan require the Suliban to covet the device and install it on their temporal comm dais? (If so, too bad for Reed's face.) If not, couldn't he have just beamed into Daniels' quarters? Possibly after the device was removed from its secret cubbyhole? 5. Presumably Archer escapes the Helix by using Silik as a living shield, and later leaves him in the Cell-ship, rather than taking him prisoner. 6. T'pol's sleepwear is mint-green in color, completely outside the Vulcan attire palette (of metallics and earth-tones) thus far seen. 7. Suliban ships: The Cell-ships must have two docking ports, since three of them attach in a line to Ent's starboard port, and long lines of them trail from the Helix. The tractor-ships are about four times as long, a flattened hexagon in cross-section, with tapered ends. There are three hexagonal docking ports: two lateral amidships, and one on the nose. 8. The Vulcan ship _D'kyr_ (no class given) is the same red color as prior ships. Instead of a conical hull, it has a flattened triangular hull which flares into a horizontal ring, then shrinks back to a stubby trapezoidal tail. This h-ring has a docking port on the starboard edge, and several decks of room-lights aft. Inside the h-ring is a vertical warp-engine ring, lined with glowing blue narrow rectangles (as previously seen). Suspended along the axis is a conical structure (something like a smaller Vulcan ship), attached to the forward inner edge of the h-ring, but not aft. The h-ring is about twice the diameter of Ent's saucer, and accounts for about half the ship's length. VII. NITS 1. When crawling through the crawlspaces, why did Sato decide not to wear her jumpsuit? (It would protect her from pointy bits.) If she chose the black blouse to gain a few extra centimeters of clearance, why did she not bother with underwear? (We know she has a standard-issue set.) VIII. NEXT WEEK Will T'pol continue to accept the conclusions of the Vulcan Science Directorate, when she and another Vulcan arrive in 1950s America?
